Outside Blues Soloing Ideas
04/03/16 19:54
Hey Folks,
This is a total off-the-cuff follow up video for a private Skype lesson I did. I covered a few topics including building outside blues licks from the blues scale and an extended blues scale. Also, building strength in the pinky and ring finger by making up an alternate picking exercise that prevent muscle fatigue. It's a pretty loose format lesson, but I think there are a few good ideas in there for extending beyond the standard Minor Pentatonic box.

The Woody Woodpecker Lick

OK, this isn't really a lesson for that jingle, but I use this phrasing trick a lot in my playing and it's inspired by the Woody Woodpecker theme song.
It's tricky to get the timing just right but sounds great and can be transposed to any mode.
This example is a Major version.

Crazy Train rhythm guitar

Hey Folks, this intermediate lesson shows how to play the transition from the verse into the chorus in Crazy Train. This seems to be a catch people up a bit, so hopefully this lesson clears things up . Once you get the feel for the groove it becomes very natural to play. keep at it and have fun!

Hey Folks,
In this lesson I show you how I play the 3 main 5 string triad arpeggio shapes. Major, minor and diminished. Then we harmonize the C Major scale using those 3 shapes. I hope you enjoy the lesson.
Jeff
